Patterncutter

Participatory Performance by Francis Patrick Brady curated by Filip Vest as part of his series ‘Well it is very exasperating when you can’t get it right’  2017, ADULT gallery, Copenhagen (DK)

Final constructed IKEA table after ‘Patterncutter’ performance by Francis Patrick Brady and participants

Patterncutter was a performative and participatory workshop held at ADULT gallery in Copenhagen as part of a series of performances curated by Filip Vest. The workshop guided participants on a journey to imagine themselves as pieces of fabric and join together in a patchwork quilt of experiences to build an IKEA table together. Questions are raised about the satisfying nature of sticking to the rules and ‘staying in the lines’ as meditiative wholesome group activities. Satisfaction is immediate, without freedom.
